The Ohio Lottery TPD Winners

Ellen Ehret of Columbus has joined the list of lucky Top Prize Drawing winners! Ellen won $5,500 and a TPD entry on a Special Edition Cashword ticket she purchased at a Giant Eagle store in Columbus last June. When the Ohio Lottery called her home to tell her she won the Top Prize Drawing for $100,000, she was speechless.

Rebecca Morris of Grove City is the TPD winner of the Classic Black II game (#840). She purchased the ticket at the Stringtown Petroleum in Grove City.

Robert Ciulla was already enjoying his retirement in Key West, Florida, but things got better when we tracked him down to tell him he won the $100,000 Top Prize Drawing on the 20x the Money ticket he bought at EZ Shop Food Mart in Medina! Robert retired and moved from Medina to Key West eight years ago. He says he’ll buy himself a new bicycle to get around the Island, and then he’ll help out his two children that still live in Ohio.

Edward Lind of Cincinnati was getting ready to go grocery shopping when an Ohio Lottery representative showed up at his door with a check for $250,000! Edward had won $5,500 and a Top Prize Drawing entry on the Holiday Lucky Times Ten ticket he bought in 2011. He got a nice surprise just before Christmas that he won the Top Prize Drawing! Edward purchased his ticket at the First Stop on Salem Road.

Jonathan Bradish of Olmsted Falls thought there were Christmas carolers outside his home, but when he opened the door he found the Ohio Lottery’s Top Prize Drawing crew with a check for $100,000. Jonathan won $5,500 and an entry into the Top Prize Drawing on the Season’s Greetings instant ticket he bought at Olmsted Bi-Rite last year. Jonathan, who recently returned home from serving in Iraq, said he was stunned to discover that he had won.

The Ohio Lottery's TPD team went to Girard to surprise John Cramer. John’s daughter Ciera helped get him to Kuzman’s Tavern for what he thought was a nice quiet lunch. What he didn’t know was that the Lottery team was waiting in the wings with a check for $2 million!

John won $5,500 and a TPD entry on the Lucky Millionaire ticket he played last August. When the TPD drawing came up this month John came out on top.

His entire family was there for the big reveal, a few who didn’t find out until they were in the car headed to the restaurant. It’s a big secret to keep! Ciera kept the secret for a whole week, and we’re glad she did! John was shocked when he saw the check, and he didn’t suspect a thing.

John chose the prize annuity of $100,000 for the next 20 years. He says he’ll keep going to work, but his prize is going to help his family with a lot. John’s first order of business is a vacation to Florida.

Lillie Whitelow of Xenia has a lot of fun spoiling her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and now she’s really going to spoil them! Lillie won $5,500 and an entry into the Top Prize Drawing on the Tax Fee Anniversary instant ticket she bought in 2010. In October 2012 she found out she won the $100,000 TPD prize! Lillie couldn’t stop screaming when she heard the news. She purchased her winning ticket at BP Food Mart in Xenia.

Patricia Stricker won the $100,000 Top Prize Drawing on Special Edition Cashword. Patricia passed away earlier this year, and her surviving spouse will claim the prize on her behalf. Patricia purchased her ticket at Quick Stop Cincinnati.

Pamela Taylor, a school bus assistant for the Canton city schools, loves to play Ohio Lottery instant games, especially $5 Wintergreen Cashword.  When her daughter Tiffany learned her mom had won $100,000, she helped plan a surprise announcement with the Ohio Lottery’s top prize drawing team.  As Pam came home from visiting a friend, the top prize drawing team, her husband, mom, daughter and granddaughter were all there to celebrate with her!

Pam plans to pay off her mortgage, a small loan and do a few nice things for her family. She loves the staff at her neighborhood retailer – S & K Mini Mart of Canton.  They treat her well and they sold her the winning ticket!

Roger Walker of Fairport Harbor thought he was showing a prospective new boater around the Grand River Marina, and when they went to take a look at the dry dock he was greeted by Ohio Lottery officials with balloons and an oversized check for $100,000! Roger won the Top Prize Drawing! Back in October of 2010, Roger won $5,500 and an entry into the Top Prize Drawing on a Special Edition Cashword instant ticket. He was stunned to find out he won the big drawing! “I’m shaking! I need to go take a walk and walk this off,” Walker said shortly after receiving his check. “I’m really excited!” Roger plans to use the money to help fix up his retirement home in Kentucky, which belonged to his parents. Roger bought his ticket at Redigo Food Mart in Fairport Harbor.

Tyler Dean of Akron won $5,500 and an entry into the top prize drawing on the Double Sided Dollars ticket his mom gave him. He thought she was joking when she told him he had won the Top Prize Drawing for $150,000! Tyler’s mom bought the lucky ticket at Speedway in Akron. Tyler is in the Air Force reserves, and he plans to use his winnings to pay off student loans.

Dustin and Meghan Bailey of Newark had a lucky day when they stopped at American Food Mart in Reynoldsburg back in November of 2010. They won $5,500 and a top prize drawing entry on a Silver and Gold ticket. Their luck got even better in March 2012 when they got the call that they won the $100,000 Top Prize Drawing! The Bailey’s plan to use their winnings to pay bills. Congratulations Dustin and Meghan!

When Rachel Goldsmith of Wauseon bought her Snowflake Cashword ticket she never imagined it would eventually put a lot more cash in her pocket. The ticket she picked up at the Circle K in Wauseon entered her into the $100,000 Top Prize Drawing, and she won! Rachael says she screamed when she found out she won the drawing. She plans to pay student loans and buy a house with her winnings.

Traci Skinner of Columbus is working third shift as a nurse while she goes to school full-time to earn her masters degree. On November 21, 2012 she went to her nursing class at Fortis College, and she left $1 million richer. 

A prize crew from the Ohio Lottery walked into Traci’s class and surprised her with a $1 million check, balloons and roses! 
"We can pay off so many bills with this, I can start paying off my student loans, oh my!" Traci said.

Traci won $5,500 and had the TPD symbol on the Classic Black instant ticket she bought last December which entered her into the TPD drawing. There were 23 entries in the drawing.

Derrick Golliday is working in Ottawa, Ohio temporarily to support his family back in East St. Louis, Illinois. The Ohio Lottery ticket he bought is helping him take a little extra cheer back to his family!

Derrick picked up a Black Pearls instant ticket at Mt. Healthy Food Mart in Cincinnati and won a $5,500 TPD prize last April. Last week he got the surprise message on his voicemail the Ohio Lottery that he had won the $100,000 Top Prize Drawing.

“You only get one Mom, so I want to get her whatever she needs first with my winnings,” he says.  Derrick also plans to buy his 18-year-old daughter a car.
 

Paul Caloumenos of Strongsville went a little numb after finding out he won $100,000 in a top prize drawing for the Ohio Lottery’s $5 instant game, Emerald 7’s. The postal carrier had taken a quick break from delivering mail to return a phone call from an Ohio Lottery representative, when he found out he won. During that call, he told Ohio Lottery officials that it was going to be pretty tough to finish his route. However, the dutiful, 18-year employee of the U.S. postal service did just that.

Caloumenos came to the Ohio Lottery’s downtown Cleveland headquarters on September 1 to make his $100,000 claim. He’s held onto the secret since Aug. 25.

In May of 2010the original ticket was purchased, at that time the winner received $5,500. The T.P.D. drawing was held at the Ohio Lottery offices in Cleveland on 6/15/2011 there were 38 entrants in this drawing.

On June 14, 2011, with his wife at his side, Phillip arrived at the Athens Lottery office right on time. He walked in with an idea that he was a winner. He was right, but he had no idea just how big of a winner he was!

With excitement and a little anxiety, Phillip stood in front of the TV cameras, practically disappearing behind the huge five million dollar check. He handled the media questions with a quiet directness punctuated with a quick wit. He had the whole room laughing. He shared openly, explaining that his winnings will go to help him recover from a long illness and help his close friends. We were privileged to be there to share his big moment.

John Calhoun expected to get a t-shirt from the Ohio Lottery when he and his wife, Paula came to the regional office on April 2, 2011. That day John got something greater: an oversized check for $100,000 letting him know that he was the top prize winner in the Ohio Lottery’s Winner Bingo Doubler game!

Last year in May, Calhoun purchased a $5 Winner Bingo Doubler instant ticket from GasAmerica on Hebron Road in Heath. That was a TPD (top prize drawing) ticket, which won him $5,500 and automatic entry into the drawing for a top $100,000 prize.  Calhoun was one of the 19 entrants in the drawing that took place in the Ohio Lottery’s Cleveland office on 4/12/2011.

The Lottery surprised Abdullah with an oversized check for $100,000 on April Fools day. He was skeptical at first, thinking someone was playing an elaborate joke. After it finally sunk in, Abdullah said that he would take his winnings and buy a new house for his soon-to-be wife.

On Tuesday, April 5, David Loomis and his wife Beth were surprised by the Ohio Lottery, when he was told he had won $150,000.

He thought he had won a drawing for a free hat and a mug, but had no idea about the money, which comes just as his unemployment benefits were set to expire.

Loomis said he lost his job and had hit the deadline for unemployment benefits.

"I just started crying because we never win anything," said Loomis' wife, Beth Loomis.  "This morning I walked the dog and found a dollar and thought 'I guess this might be our lucky day.' I guess it is his lucky day."

The family plans to use the money to pay off bills and possibly for a down payment on a house.

On March 4, Ohio Lottery representatives asked Michael to come to the Ashland Sunoco, where he bought the original ticket. He was asked to sign some papers. As he understood it, he was signing papers before the top prize drawing for the $1-million prize.

Allison Turner, the Ohio Lottery’s Promotions manager, did, in fact, have him sign a piece of paper.

After handing the paper back, Ms. Turner asked, “Did you read the paper I had you sign?” Michael replied, “No, my wife does all the reading.”

In turn, Michael handed the paper to his wife. She began crying as she read the words, “Grand Prize Winner of $1,000,000.”

When asked what he would be doing now, Michael said, “I am going to retire and enjoy the rest of my life.”

James Dudley, of Columbus, was presented with a $250,000 check for winning the $5 Instant Game Holiday Lucky Times 10, at Sunoco on E. Dublin-Granville Rd., in Columbus

James Dudley purchased his winning $5 Holiday Lucky Times 10 at Sunoco on E. Dublin-Granville Road in Columbus. The original ticket was purchased in March of 2010, at which time Dudley won an instant $5,500 prize. When he made that claim, he was automatically entered into the drawing for the $250,000 top prize.

Rex Postlethwait, of Akron, was presented with a $100,000 check for winning the $5 Instant Game Special Edition Cashword, at the Lottery's North Canton office.

Rex Postlethwait purchased his winning $5 Special Edition Cashword ticket at Circle K on Northfield Road in Maple Heights. The original ticket was purchased in October of 2009, at which time Rex won an instant $1,000 prize. When he made that claim, he was automatically entered into the drawing for the $100,000 top prize.

Robin n C. Guinsler, of Newark, was presented with a $100,000 check for winning the $5 Cincinnati Bengals Top Prize Drawing, at the Lottery’s Columbus office.

Robin purchased her winning $5 ticket at Vannatta’s Right Choice on Vernon Road in Newark. The original ticket was purchased in April of 2010, at which time Robin won an instant $5,500 prize. When she made that claim, she was automatically entered into the drawing for the $100,000 top prize.

JoAnn Kinard of Parma is a Top Prize Drawing (TPD) winner of $100,000, playing the Instant game Deal or No Deal.

Ms. Kinard purchased her winning $5 ticket at The Tobacco Company store on Pearl Road in Parma Heights. The original ticket was purchased in April of 2009, at which time JoAnn won an instant $1,000 prize. When she made that claim, she was automatically entered into the drawing for the $100,000 top prize.
